I figured it was time to retire the &#39;Summer of 2008&#39; topic, since we&#39;re just a little over a month away from the new season. 


I read in the paper today that they resigned Mbenga to a one year contract. 

That&#39;s good.  He&#39;s not anything great, but he&#39;s a big guy that we can use off the bench.


Also mentioned was that Walton wasn&#39;t released to start practicing yet.  Still on the mend, I guess.

			<description><![CDATA[ I agree with you about ranking players, Sho.  If you noticed, I said I thought Kobe was &#39;as good as&#39; Jordan.  But, even that is an exercise in
futility.  You&#39;re right, every generation has players that can&#39;t be compared to anyone else. I just get frustrated with all the Kobe-hating that still
seems to be out there.  He&#39;s done a fantastic job of making his teammates better players, just like Magic did.  I really think this current Lakers roster

I was shocked that the Lakers gave this one away.  Houston&#39;s riding on a lot of momentum right now, and the Lakers probably figured they wouldn&#39;t be
much competition.  Wrong.

Chalk this one up to a sick Kobe, but still, the other Lakers should&#39;ve stepped up to the bat, but they didn&#39;t.  I expect them to come back locked and
loaded for Game 2.
