Sorry about the problems with Yuku. I haven't had any problems like that for months. I remember it was really frustrating, though.

Game Three Lakers 104 Nuggets 97 from yahoo.com: This was not exactly the new look Carmelo Anthony was talking about. The first half of this one was beyond frustrating. Those refs weren't letting the Lakers break a sweat without blowing their whistles. Half of the Lakers had 3 fouls before halftime. They did a great job of adjusting their game in the second half, though. I thought the Lakers still played pretty poorly, though. I think they had a shooting percentage of something like 37% for most of the game. Still, they managed to pull out a win. Good for them! Lakers record: 3-0 |

Lets try this again......
Odom happy for Bynum By Elliott Teaford, Staff Writer Article Last Updated: 10/31/2008 11:18:11 PM PDT EL SEGUNDO - Lamar Odom could have received the sort of multi-year, multi-million dollar contract extension teammate Andrew Bynum signed. Odom could have realized the same kind of long-term security Bynum did Thursday afternoon. When he didn't - when the Lakers decided against giving him a contract extension by Friday's deadline - Odom shrugged and went back to work. If he felt snubbed by Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak, he didn't show it. Or say it. In fact, Odom said he went straight to Bynum the minute he saw him Friday morning and congratulated him on his four-season, $58 million extension. He told reporters he was happy for his 21-year-old teammate. "It's great," Odom said after the Lakers' practice. "He's a superstar. He deserves it. He can fit the bill. He has that ability, a kid from New Jersey. He can take care of his family. He can buy his mom a big house. "That's what it's all about, growing up, playing on the playground shooting all those shots, shooting the ball on a hanger in your room. I'm happy for him." Odom said his own contract situation is not a distraction. He will make $11.4 million this season, the last in a six-season deal he signed with the Miami Heat in the summer of 2003. The Heat then traded him to the Lakers in 2004. "I'm not worried about it," Odom said. "I can't worry about that. ... My contract is up next year, not this year. I get paid to play basketball this year. I can't complain. I'm in a good position. I can't let what happened for Andrew affect me, you know what I'm saying? "I saw him today outside the building and I couldn't wait to congratulate him, because where we come from it's a big deal. That's some more kids that are going to go to college because of Andrew." Odom then referred further questions to his agent, Jeff Schwartz. Sort of. "That's what they decided to do, and I'm all for it," Odom said of the Lakers' decision to give Bynum an extension. "That would be a good conversation for you and Mr. Schwartz to have. Me, I'll just keep playing and doing what they need me to do. How Jeff feels, as my aide, I don't know. "That's not going to stop what I do. It's easy to do because I'm playing on a championship-caliber team. I'm good. I had my chance at it (when he signed with the Heat after four seasons with the Clippers)." Peace of mind: Bynum admitted he didn't know if a deal could be completed before Friday's deadline, but expressed a sense of relief that it was done. "It was in the back of my mind, but I wasn't really thinking about it," Bynum said. "It's good that it's over with. Now I can just go out there and play basketball. My family is secure (financially). Everybody's secure. I don't have to think about that anymore. I can just come here and work hard and dive on the floor and not worry about being hurt or anything like that." There we go....it was a character of code embedded in the story that was choking Yuku...... LO may...or may not.... be an inconsistent player but he sure is a class act........

Agreed. Odom is a classy guy.
I'm also very happy that he's adjusted to the 6th man position. I guess it bruised his ego a bit, but he's done a great job of adjusting to it. I think this could turn out to be his best year with the Lakers. (it better be if he wants an extension!)

Game Four Lakers 106 Clippers 88 from yahoo.com: The winless Los Angeles Clippers were giving the unbeaten Los Angeles Lakers all they could handle until they took a fourth-quarter lead. The final score was certainly no indication of what this game was really like. Both teams played crappy, but the Lakers finally pulled themselves together and had a nice final run. This one was a real stinker. : Lakers record: 4-0 |

I'm having a very difficult time getting my head around these games......
Between the many trial combinations of players and varied new plays, I'm not surprised that they look rough at times. I'm happy that PJ has let loose his grip on the Triangle and the depth that's allowing fewer minutes for each player. I'm thinking we'll see vast improvement over the next few weeks. |

Game 5 Lakers 111 Rockets 82 from yahoo.com: -Kobe Bryant scored 23 points, Pau Gasol added 20 points and 15 rebounds, and the unbeaten Los Angeles Lakers routed the Houston Rockets 111-82 on Sunday night. Whoeee! That was one impressive game, IMHO. For the Lakers to battle back from 16 points behind to end up beating the very tough Rockets by 29 points....Whooeee! I can't say enough about what Farmar and Arista bring to this team. Sasha and Odom, too. That is one excellent 2nd unit.
This was one excellent win. Lakers record: 5-0 |

Game 6 Lakers 106 Mavericks 99 from yahoo.com: Down after one quarter, two and even three, the Los Angeles Lakers found themselves in an unfamiliar place. Well, once again the Lakers rallied from being behind to getting a very impressive win (not by 29 points this time, though). I really thought this was going
to turn into the Lakers first loss this season, from the way the first 3 quarters went. Even with the close call at the end, they could've lost this one.
It's great seeing these Lakers work so hard for these wins. Ariza was on a roll tonight! I'm so glad he's healthy again, and Jackson is giving him
more minutes.
Tomorrow night is probably going to be another nail-biter. Lakers record: 6-0 |

Game 7 Lakers 93 Hornets 86 from yahoo.com: The Hornets were primed to pull off an improbable comeback until Kobe Bryant made it impossible. This one was almost like the mirror opposite of last night's win against Dallas. Unlike that game, the Lakers maintained a comfortable lead throughout most of this one, but then nearly blew it and let the Hornets get within 3 points in the final few minutes. Thanks to Kobe's wild 3 pointer and some excellent team defense, they managed to hold on for a win. It shows how good and determined the Hornets are, though. Even being down by as much as 23 points, they never gave up and almost pulled out a win. Fortunately, the Lakers were just a little bit better. Lakers record: 7-0 (currently the best record in the league!)

Game 8 Lakers 95 Pistons 106 from yahoo.com: The new-look Detroit Pistons still have the Los Angeles Lakers' number. Gee, and I was really hoping the Lakers wouldn't lose this season. Honestly, they didn't play good enough to win. And unlike their latest trend, they were not able to stage an impressive 4th quarter comeback this time.
The Pistons got that lead, and like the good team that they are, they held onto it until the end.
I'm sure the Lakers will make the proper adjustments and win another 3 or 4 in a row....before they get overconfident and lose again. Lakers record: 7-1 |

Want a good laugh?
Then enjoy this article from yesterday's Daily News:
Keep in mind this is coming from the same guy who once said that Phil Jackson was the only coach he'd ever play for again. Now, he's trashing him in
the press.
Sounds like bitter grapes from The Big Has-Been.

Game 9 Lakers 116 Bulls 109 from yahoo.com: The Los Angeles Lakers went to their inside game against the smaller Chicago Bulls. The strategy worked to perfection. It was great seeing Gasol having such a strong game. I hope it's a sign of things to come. I was really not expecting such a strong outing from this Chicago team. I can't remember when I've watched an NBA team with so few recognizable faces on it! Other than Lindsay Hunter, who is pushing 40, I think, most of these other guys are all new to me. This new kid Derrick Rose is going to be a keeper. I wonder how long he'll stay with Chicago. Nice to see the Lakers back in the Win column. Interesting how these schedules work themselves out, though. The Lakers have played 9 games, where the rest of the teams have played anywhere up to 12 and 13 games at this point. Seems a bit screwy to me. Lakers record: 8-1 |

Game 10 Lakers 105 Suns 92 from yahoo.com: Kobe Bryant scored 24 points and Vladimir Radmanovic made all five of his 3-pointers to lead the Los Angeles Lakers past the Phoenix Suns, 105-92 on Thursday night. It was a great pleasure to watch the Lakers beat this team. And it was especially enjoyable to see them sit Shaq on the bench for most of the second half,
so that the Suns could get back to their regular fast game to try and catch the faster, better Lakers. I seem to remember last season at some point when Jackson threatened to pull Vlade out of the starting 5, and then him coming back with a big game. He did
the same thing, tonight, too. Whatever works!

wasn't able to bully his team to a win!!!

Game 11 Lakers 104 Nuggets 90 from yahoo.com: Kobe Bryant scored 11 of his 29 points in the third quarter before sitting out the fourth, Andrew Bynum had 13 points and 13 rebounds, and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Denver Nuggets 104-90 on Friday night. I think this was about the best that I've seen the Lakers play as a team this year. And that's saying a lot! They took on a very strong team, and made their win look easy. Each one of these Lakers are playing very impressively this early in the season. I continue
to hope they just stay healthy.

Game 12 Lakers 118 Kings 108 from yahoo.com: Double-digit scoring by eight Los Angeles Lakers camouflaged what nearly cost them a victory against the young and aggressive Sacramento Kings: sloppy ball handling and poor transition defense. That first paragraph pretty much said it all. The Lakers were sloppy and slow on defense, but they had eight players with 10 points or more to make sure they got the win. But giving up 108 points to Sacramento? Not good. Lakers record: 11-1 |

Game 13 Lakers 120 Nets 93 from yahoo.com: When Pau Gasol made his Lakers debut back in February following his trade from the Memphis Grizzlies, he led Los Angeles to a 15-point victory at New Jersey on a night when Kobe Bryant had the lowest-scoring game of his MVP campaign. Another very impressive win! Really interesting to see these opposing teams come out with great energy and bringing their A game to compete with these
Lakers, and then see them get so frustrated and play so much worse towards the end when the Lakers go on their 4th quarter runs. Vince Carter looked miserable
sitting on the bench in those last few minutes. Lakers record: 12-1 |

NOT good...
Center Andrew Bynum sustained a right foot injury Tuesday against New Jersey and is listed as day to day. An MRI exam and a CT scan revealed that a small bone spur had chipped off the foot, causing pain and inflammation. I sure hope he's not going to be one of those injury-prone players. |

Game 14 Lakers 114 Mavericks 107 from yahoo.com: With every game the Los Angeles Lakers play, one nagging question keeps cropping up: How did they lose to the Detroit Pistons-at home? I'm just glad that Bynum is back. He's obviously gotta learn that pretty much all the NBA guys have to play injured. I just hope he and Ariza
stays healthy enough to keep playing! These guys are gold!
